What Does Having A Grandfathered Plan Mean?

Representatives of Save-On Health Insurance Services, Inc. want you to know that if you were covered by a major health insurance plan in the Los Angeles, California, area before or on March 23, 2010, you may have a grandfathered plan. A grandfathered plan is a plan that continues to offer the same benefits as those offered prior to or on March 23, 2010.

Whether or not you have a grandfathered plan depends on the grandfathered date of the actual plan rather than the date on which you enrolled in the plan. If a grandfathered plan still continues to exist, and you wish to enroll in the plan after March 23, 2010, you are still enrolled in a grandfathered plan.

Grandfathered plans include health plans covered by major health insurance providers such as Kaiser Permanente, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and United Healthcare. To find out if you have a grandfathered plan, read the fine print. Legal regulations require health plans to disclose whether they are grandfathered plans. Grandfather plans covers more doctors and hospitals in their network.

For more information about the meaning of a grandfathered plan in the Los Angeles, California, area, please contact Save-On Health Insurance Services Inc.
